FINANCIAL AID

Columbia University College of Dental Medicine strives to provide financial aid opportunities for its students at every level of study. A typical financial aid package may include some of the following elements: scholarships, grants, loans, work-study programs, guaranteed student loans, and awards from outside agencies.

In addition, our postgraduate students sometimes receive stipends for teaching residents and working in our clinics.

Foreign students should be aware that they are not eligible for U.S. government-sponsored loan programs—including the Guaranteed Student Loan Program—unless they have permanent residence status. Students here on an F1 or F2 student visa, or on a J1 or J2 exchange visitor visa, are also not eligible for need-based state or CUCDM aid. Most foreign students at CUCDM finance their own education.

Contact the Office of Student Financial Planning for information regarding your specific situation. Upon acceptance to CUCDM, you will receive financial aid application financial materials, as well as information regarding specific opportunities.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Many highly qualified dental students, as well as graduates of overseas dental schools who are seeking Postgraduate training in the U.S., choose to attend CUCDM.

The college assists with questions regarding housing, visas, and requirements for admission as an international student. Financial aid opportunities for international students are limited.

In some cases, graduates of dental schools seeking admission to one of the College’s Postgraduate programs may apply for advanced standing.
