Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology

Division Chief

Welcome to the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. The Division is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and patient care at Columbia University Medical Center and our affiliated sites. Our education and teaching efforts are internationally recognized and our faculty are dedicated to the highest standards of patient care.

Education

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (OMFR) trains predoctoral dental students in oral and maxillofacial radiology through a series of courses and clinical rotations throughout the second, third, and fourth year of the predoctoral dental curriculum.

This educational experience continues in the various postdoctoral programs through the Division's advanced diagnostic imaging services and consultation in all aspects of dental and maxillofacial diagnosis. The radiology faculty maintain three offsite, state-of-the-art cranio-maxillofacial-ENT radiology practices where advanced trainees can undertake externships.

Patient Care

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology provides contemporary oral and maxillofacial diagnostic services to the Columbia University Irving Medical Center community as well as to dental professionals in the New York City area. The Vanderbilt Clinic site at CUIMC consists of several intra-oral examination/radiology rooms, two panoramic/cephalometric units, two cone beam CT units, and a radiology reading room.

Research

The Division of OMFR participates in a broad range of research activities as pertains to medical imaging and surgery. Ongoing projects are in the areas of: real-time surgical navigation, evidenced-based medicine, innovative strategies for effective post-graduate medical training, medical ethics, SPECT/CT of the maxillofacial region, 4D imaging of the TMJ and oculodynamic MRI.
