CDM Mourns Loss of Dr. Mark Tenner

Mark J. Tenner, DDS '62, alumnus and CDM faculty member, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018, one month before his 81st birthday.

Dr. Tenner was a beloved husband, devoted father, loving grandfather and committed dental educator and dentist. Dr. Tenner, who graduated from CDM in 1962, was admired by his tightly-knit community of classmates for his warmth, intellectual curiosity, and confidence. After graduating from CDM he went on to serve in the Air Force before entering private practice.

He returned to CDM (although he had never strayed far) first as a volunteer faculty member before joining the operative dentistry faculty as assistant professor in 2002, serving until 2017.  He demonstrated deep commitment to his students, colleagues, and patients and his service to Columbia University was recognized with an Alumni Medal from Columbia University in 2000.

A private funeral service was held on Sunday, April 10, 2018, but the family will be sitting shiva through Thursday, April 12 at the home of his son, Dr. Craig Tenner. Arrangements have been made at the direction of Riverside-Nassau North Chapels at 516-487-9600.
