Externships in AEGD, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Periodontics, or Prosthodontics
The College of Dental Medicine is beginning to transition our students, faculty and staff back to campus. Our top priority is to provide a safe environment for the entire CDM community. Externships will continue to be suspended for the Fall 2020 semester. Information will be shared once we can resume externship opportunities.
An externship program in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD), Endodontics, Orthodontics, Periodontics, or Prosthodontics is available to third or fourth year dental students enrolled in US or Canadian dental schools who plan to apply to one of the postdoctoral programs. Externs attend classes and observe the postdoctoral students in the clinic. There is a limit of two externs per month and per specialty. Time commitments vary per program. Externships can be for up to one week during Spring semester (January through April). Applications should be submitted 1-3 months prior to the desired dates requested.
|Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD)||1-2 days maximum|
|Endodontics||up to one week|
|Orthodontics||1/2 day morning or afternoon; 1-2 full days (vary)|
|Periodontics||up to one week|
|Prosthodontics||1-2 days maximum|
