The Office of Student Financial Aid & Planning administers financial aid and provides debt management and financial literacy counseling for programs under the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and the College of Dental Medicine. We serve as a resource and link to your funding sources. It is important to become an "educated consumer" and learn all that you can about the options that are available, given your personal financial situation. We will provide information, but keep in mind, that financial aid is an environment subject to constant change due to new legislation and regulations.
All of our staff are prepared to answer routine questions. You will be assigned to a Financial Aid Officer who will determine “need” and will prepare your financial aid offer.
You can begin the process by completing the Aid Type Request Form on NetPartner. You will receive an email from our office with instructions on how to access NetPartner.
Below is information tailored to your specific program and citizenship status. Please review these documents.

Activating your UNI
Your UNI is your University Identifier. It is made up of the first letters of your first and last names followed by a series of numbers. Many of the resources at Columbia require you to log in using your UNI and password. In order to locate your UNI, please visit http://cuit.columbia.edu/cuit/manage-my-uni you will be asked for your first and last name, last 4 digits of your SSN, and your date of birth. Please follow all directions carefully after that.
If you have followed the instructions correctly, you will receive a confirmation that your email@example.com (link sends e-mail) has been properly setup and you will have access to you ID number which starts with C followed by 9 numeric digits- you can find this number by logging in to Student Services Online (https://ssol.columbia.edu/)
Do not do anything else at this point.
University Email Accounts - WAIT FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS
Email accounts at the Columbia University Medical Campus (CUMC) are exchange email accounts and follow much more strict protocol than other university emails due to the sensitive nature of patient information for our clinical students. Set up instructions for your CUMC exchange accounts (@cumc.columbia.edu) will be sent out in the next month.
PLEASE DO NOT set up any Columbia email accounts until I send out detailed information. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SET UP LIONMAIL, Alias email accounts or anything besides a CUMC exchange account for which we will send instructions. If you set up anything else, it will create extra steps and confusion when we need to get your email properly configured.
Student Health Services
Please be advised that we require all new students to complete and return health forms. You must also complete certain medical requirements (immunizations, physicals, etc.) Based on certain deadlines and specific time frames for vaccinations, you must start addressing these requirements now.
The enrollment deadline is June 28, 2019. Do not wait until the last minute to take care of this. You will not be allowed in the dental clinic if you have a health hold on July 2, 2019. Please visit the SHS link at http://www.cumc.columbia.edu/student-health for preregistration requirements and forms visit http://www.cumc.columbia.edu/student-health/especially/new-students/preregistration-requirements-and-forms.

You will meet key administrators and faculty members that will be instrumental throughout your education at CDM.
Change of Address
Anyone who has a change of address should notify our office in writing, including the dates the address will be valid, and the new telephone number. As an incoming student, you are responsible for responding to all formal requests throughout the summer, regardless of your summer plans or location.
Refer to the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO-CUIMC) webpage here for instructions about how to apply for F-1 or J-1 international student status. Any specific questions about the application process should be addressed to the ISSO-CUIMC at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at (212) 304-7541.
In order to have your ID cards prepared ahead of time and available upon your arrival at the end of June, you will have the opportunity to submit online photo and information. Once the ID office is ready for this submission, I will let everyone know the steps they must follow. ID cards are needed throughout CUMC campus for entry to all the buildings, to access certain locked areas and pass through within the buildings and for all university transactions.
