​Biomaterials, Regenerative Biology, and Stem Cells

Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine offer a novel approach to regenerate damaged tissues or organs, including potentially all areas of the craniofacial region. Our research uses advanced scaffolds and 3-D printing, controlled drug delivery systems, and translational animal models to explore the potential of harnessing endogenous stem and progenitor cells for musculoskeletal and craniofacial regeneration. Our multidisciplinary team of scientists and clinicians have already regenerated several key musculoskeletal and craniofacial structures, including articular cartilage of the knee joints and temporomandibular joint, tooth structures, periodontal ligaments and periodontium, fibrocartilage of the meniscus, and soft tissue grafts.
