Overview
Dr. Luiz A. Pimenta is a professor of prosthodontics and interim director of the Division of Prosthodontics at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine (CDM).
Dr. Pimenta is internationally recognized for his dental/biomaterials and craniofacial prosthodontics research. Dr. Pimenta teaches in the prosthodontics postgraduate program and serves as director of Bio/Dental Materials at CDM. His research evaluates different dental materials and techniques, digital dentistry, and uses 3D imaging analysis to assess the upper airway of subjects born with craniofacial anomalies, mainly cleft palate. Dr. Pimenta has published more than 100 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and serves as a reviewer for and on the editorial board of several scientific journals. Dr. Pimenta is a clinician with more than 30 years of experience in restorative dentistry, implantology, and prosthodontics.
