Message from the Director

Gordana Vunjak-Novakovic, PhD

Welcome to the Center for Dental and Craniofacial Research (CDCR). Located at the College of Dental Medicine, this center has been established to provide an inclusive and collaborative environment for investigators across both campuses of Columbia University.

To maximize impact and to best economize the use of available space and equipment, we will operate as a resource for investigators, rather than a shared lab. Our initial focus is on research in regenerative medicine, biology and genetics of craniofacial abnormalities, cancer and “organs on a chip” models of human disease. We anticipate investigator-initiated extensions into other interdisciplinary and strategically important areas.

To explore the potential of each area, bring together investigators and trainees, and build critical mass for research and translation, CDCR will also hold research symposia and workshops. One such event is the seminar series Tissue Talks that is co-hosted by CDCR and is featuring the leaders in the field for audiences all around the world.

I will be serving as the director of CDCR, with Dr. Chang Lee and Dr. Millie Embree serving as associate directors, and Dr. Christopher Ricupero serving as center manager. Please contact us with any questions and suggestions on how to make the best use of the CDCR.
