About the Continuing Education Program

The Continuing Education Program at the College of Dental Medicine offers a variety of courses each semester as well as on-going courses throughout the year to help dental professionals expand their knowledge, hone their skills, improve patient satisfaction, and increase their bottom line.

Course Location

Due to COVID-19 restrictions at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC), the majority of continuing dental education courses are being held as live virtual sessions. However, we do offer some courses as in-person or hybrid options. For those attending in-person at CUIMC, we abide by protocols currently in place which require participants have completed their COVID innocuations at least two weeks prior to arriving on site. Courses are held at CUIMC located at West 168th Street and Broadway. Course location details and directions are provided at registration.

Course Credit

For all CE activities, 0.25 credit hours will be awarded for each 15 minutes of activity time, not including breaks, meals, registration periods and general business. Full attendance and course completion is required to obtain credit. Participants receive a statement of attendance at the end of each course upon completion and return of the course feedback survey.

Please contact your local licensing authority for CE credit hour guidelines and regulations.

Columbia University CDM does not send CE credit information to state boards or licensing/regulatory agencies. Meeting attendees are responsible for ensuring that their CE credits are current and on file.

Columbia University CDM cautions participants, for each CE session, about the potential risks of using limited knowledge when incorporating new techniques and procedures in their practice.

Cancellations and Refunds

Please notify the Continuing Education Office of a cancellation at least 3 business days prior to the start of the course in order to receive a refund or credit. Allow at least 14 business days for refunds to be processed once approved.

Cancellations for continuum courses must be received at least three weeks prior to start of course to be eligible for a refund of the deposit and will result in a $500 processing fee.

Columbia University cannot assume responsibility for losses due to emergencies, unforeseen circumstances, or participants' travel arrangements. Course fees for no-shows will be forfeited.

Occasionally, courses are cancelled due to lack of enrollment or inclement weather, in which case a full refund is granted.

Future Courses

We welcome your feedback on courses taken or topics or speakers you would like us to research for future CE classes. To give us feedback or for more information about our courses or to add your name to our email list, please contact us.
